#12th Parliament Uganda

Parliament has adopted an amended motion urging the Government to aggressively scale up funding and operational support for smallholder farmers under the National Smallholder Farmers Transformation and Climate Resilience Programme, rejecting proposals for a new law after lawmakers cited sufficient existing statutes and identified poor policy implementation as the real bottleneck.

Former Adjumani District Chairperson James Leku Pilli has officially taken the oath of allegiance as the Member of Parliament for Adjumani West County, succeeding the late veteran statesman Gen. (Rtd) Moses Ali and securing immediate government assurances on funding for the strategic Laropi Bridge across River Nile.

Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa has closed the 12th Parliament's induction seminar at Speke Resort Munyonyo, declaring that the current house has the professional calibre to become the best in Uganda's history. Tayebwa urged MPs to enforce financial accountability on local government budgets, while Clerk Adolf Mwesige and Minister Charles Ayume cautioned the legislators to safeguard their health amid demanding political schedules.
